SharePoint Connect 2014

We have changed the name, slightly for the SharePoint 2014 conference (formerly SharePoint Connections) so the conference fits into our portfolio of “Connect” conferences, but the content will still be the latest news, updates, tips & tricks about SharePoint to IT Pro’s, End Users, Developers and Business Managers delivered by independent and Microsoft SharePoint experts.

With major changes happening to the SharePoint system in the near future, the agenda of this year's SharePoint conference will consist of sessions about Integration, Cloud, Web Dev, Mobile Apps, Social, Hybrid, Migration and much more.

The first day opens with a Keynote 'The Road to Office 365 and the Future of Cloud Development' delivered by Chris Johnson (Group Product Manager on the Office 365 team at Microsoft, Redmond) followed by sessions that will be divided into six tracks, a mix of Developer, IT Pro, Office 365, Business, End-user and a Sponsor Solution Track.

The second day’s agenda follows the same format with Christian Buckley giving the Keynote 'SharePoint Social Integration: Good, Better, Best' and has a closing session in the keynote hall with participating speakers on the stage.

Post-conference workshops are held on the third day:
Build a Search-driven SharePoint Site from Start to Finish by Benjamin Niaulin
SharePoint 2013 Masterclass: SharePoint Installation and Configuration from Bare Metal to Farm by Dan Holme
Developing SharePoint 2013 Apps by Scot Hillier

We have a great line-up of speakers again this year's conference with an exciting mix of firm favourites and friends such as Mirjam van Olst, Donald Hessing, Dan Holme, Jasper Oosterveld and Spencer Harbar alongside newcomers to our event Scot Hillier, Naomi Moneypenny, Chris O'Brien, Mary Leigh Mackie and Sam Hassani.

SharePoint Connect 2014 is now approved by the CPD Certification Service and delegates attending the conference or workshops are eligible for a CPD certificate on request.
Further details will be announced soon.

The event will be taking place just a week after the major SharePoint 2013 launch in the USA, so come along and meet with some of the best-selling information technology authors and Microsoft MVP’s who will talk about the new upgrade as well as helping you to get the most out of your current system.

Keynote Day 1: Steve Fox, Director Microsoft Services Group, and Mike Fitzmaurice, Vice President of Product Technology for Nintex, are already confirmed as joint keynote speakers and will be presenting "SharePoint 2013: Reframing Productivity for the Cloud”

SharePoint Connections Amsterdam 2011

SharePoint Connections return to Amsterdam!

This November, as Microsoft launch their latest product updates, the SharePoint Connections conference will take place at The Meervaart in Amsterdam. This is set to be a very exciting event and critical for all IT Pros, Developers and Business Management Professionals who use SharePoint, to keep up to date with the latest developments.

Keynote speaker Dan Holme, SharePoint Evangelist, will deliver his thoughts on SharePoint Governance: Beyond the Buzzword.

Other top speakers will include:
• Mirjam van Olst, Microsoft Certified Master for SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010
• Wouter Van Vugt, Code Counsel Director and Microsoft MVP
• Asif Rehmani, SharePoint Server MVP and MCT
• Agnes Molnar, SharePoint MVP and Senior Solutions Consultant for BA Insight
• Danny Burlage, founder and CTO of Wortell
• Michael Noel, MCSE+I, CISSP, MVP, Convergent Computing
• Matthew Hughes, SharePoint Trainer and WCM
• With over 36 sessions to choose from, you’ll learn all there is to know about SharePoint 2011 and the future direction for Microsoft

Join Agnes Molnar as she explains how her session “Beyond the Search Center” looks at what users really need. This means that as developers, you have to make sure your business users can actually find the document they want from the many thousands or even millions stored in a SharePoint system. To look at what users really need, “people have to understand that the emphasis is on the application. A business user doesn’t need to know they’re actually searching. They have to do their job and the technology has to help them in doing this better and better. If the technology behind the scenes is the Search they don’t need to know about this. They don’t ‘search’ they ‘work’ and Search will do the work for them”.

Hear Asif Rehmani’s session on creating SharePoint Library forms using InfoPath 2010, showing how to build electronic forms with data validation and conditional logic using InfoPath alongside the techniques for looking up data from various sources and populating it in your electronic forms.

Dan Holme follows up his keynote with “To BLOB or Not to BLOB? Storage Optimization Demystified” which takes a balanced view of when it makes sense to store your BLOBs externally from SharePoint and SQL Server, and when you should avoid it. The session looks at the performance impact, scalability implications, and critical considerations for backup and restore, high availability, and disaster recovery.

Plus local favourite Wouter van Vugt’s session on “Managing JavaScript in SharePoint“ is unashamedly for coders, showing how to register scripts, how to work with the Script On Demand feature to improve page performance, and how to make use of features such as page components, the dialog and the notification areas. The session also covers JQuery integration.

“SharePoint 2010 Developer’s Mythbusters”, join Mirjam van Olst as she looks at how to avoid pitfalls caused by common misconceptions – the situation where ‘everyone’ tells you ‘this is how it works’, but when you try it you discover that ‘everyone’ is wrong. This session will point out gotchas, provide some best practices and also look more deeply into some of the IT Pro side aspects that you need to know about in order to be able to build solid SharePoint solutions.

• Dive into the latest products and technology.
• Separate myths from reality with Microsoft product teams and industry experts in Ask the Experts lounge.
• Build valuable relationships.
• Join us for SharePint drinks and snacks – a tradition in the SharePoint community

We are pleased to announce that we will be working closely with DIWUG for this event and they will be available at the ‘Ask the Experts’ booth. Don't forget to pick up the free copy of DIWUG's user group magazine, a must read for any SharePoint delegate.

The original SharePint social evening will, of course, take place during the evening of the 20th, enjoy free drinks and cocktail/buffet food whilst mixing with your peers and talking to speakers and solution providers.
